We are thinking about relocating to this area. We already live in Florida, but are just moving to a new area.
Can anyone give me any info about this place (it's location description - is it in the boonies, city like, etc., what's near, crime, schools, etc.)?
Thanks.
:)

LOL. It's true, Clermont is a very culturally diverse city, but not at all full of racists or rude spanish people. There is not much crime here; not compared to Orlando or surrounding cities. We have our own (rather large) Hospital here; The South Lake Hospital.

Clermont is certainly not in the boonies (anymore), but if you drive on the outskirts of the city, you will be in the country.

The schools here are pretty good. There are many schools in each grade level, so it depends on what half of Clermont you live. In my opinion, if you want to go to the newer and nicer schools (Lost Lake Elementary, Windy Hill Middle, East Ridge High), you need to live on the East side of Clermont. Clermont also has a college, Lake Sumter Community College.

Among our restaraunts, we have: Outback, Carrabas, Pinera, Chilis, Ruby Tuesday, Perkins, Bob Evans, Sonnys, Cracker Barrell.. and much more. For GREAT BBQ, go to Jack Bennys.

Shops: Target, Walmart, K-Mart, Kohls, Home-Depot, Belk..

There aren't many places to really go 'hang out' in Clermont. We have a bowling alley, plenty of places to golf, numerous gyms, and I hear we are getting a movie theatre. But that's why we have Orlando, which is only like 15 or 20 minutes away! We DO have the best chain of lakes around though. Seems like the entire city is on the water for half of the year.

Hope this gives you an idea of Clermont!

Clermont is a good position to stay a lot a lot more suitable positive than Orlando. It has reliable colleges and hospitals and the residences are marvelous you've some sources which isn't frequent for Flroida anymore. The community is marvelous and the individuals are marvelous. the residences are a reliable cost. I stay in Orlando and my family members lives in Clermont i recognize Clermont way more suitable!! it truly is so non violent and the view is marvelous you've hills and it truly is no longer all flat like maximum aspects of Florida. There are golf classes, procuring, shops, eating places, and a lot to do someone reported Windermere it truly is an particularly marvelous section yet is amazingly severe priced many residences are contained in the milllions. i imagine you'd be more than chuffed in Clermont!! also it dosn't count number number in case you stay in a gated community how someone had reported all neighborhoods have their issues I stay in a gated community with a huge living house yet we nonetheless get some issues a gate isn't one hundred% efficient.

Clermont is in the middle of nowhere, with really only a Wal-Mart and a Loews being built. A lot of construction going on to try and build up the area though. Depending on where exactly you are looking at in Clermont the closest mall is either Florida Mall (SandLake and Orange Blossom Trail) or West Oaks Mall (Colonial aka 50) which are about 30+ minutes drive.
The area consists of mainly Hispanics AND rude racist people, where if you aren't Hispanic you get treated like dirt. Crime isn't horrible but not great either, I have had people steal one of my hub-caps and try and steal my car from my apartment complex though (Cagan Crossings). Don't know anything about the schools though, sorry.

I agree with Brian- not a hispanic or racist area-
Clermont used to be nothing but Orange Groves- now it is growing pretty quickly. And a new highway was just built connected that area to main parts in Orlando. It is still a bit out there but quickly getting things built. So close to Disney it is a wonder it tokk this long to be built up. But it is nice I think- esp if you like a little bit of rural country (at least for now)

Clermont is only a quick toll-way ride outside of Orlando and it looks just like any other regional area within the Orlando area. All of the usual stores, restaurants and traffic can be found there.

Boonies? Hardly!

Hispanics? I do business in Clermont on a frequent basis and I haven't noticed any odd surge of "rude" Hispanics. Sounds like some little racist girl didn't have a very good experience in Clermont.

clermont doesnt have a whole lot out there.there is walmart, loews, and denny's..thats about it, besides all the little mom and pop stores.. There really isnt much out there besides alot of orange groves and swampland. Many hispanics stay out in clermont though and not many other races, by the way the people out there are pretty rude and impatient.
