Does Grandma Death get the Letter in Donnie Darko?

Or is it in the Directors cut? I think she picks it up or something...I remember the directors cut was better than the normal one so if any of you haven't seen the directors cut.....see it! It is so much cooler, but there are tiny bits in the first one that are cool too.....
