Wanting to upgrade my wireless network, any suggestions?

At this moment I have a Linksys wireless G broadband router 54Mbps. Installed on my Dell XPS 210 I have a Belkin USB stick also running at 54Mbps. I have an Xbox 360 plugged directly into the router and plan on keeping it that way. My computer is smaller than most and most Wireless cards will not fit. I could find a smaller wireless card but would rather go the USB route. I know running at 54Mbps is basic but I dont have much experience in the wireless world. Any suggestions?

well two issues to consider, there are faster wireless standards, g with some sort of speed booster, or going to the new N standards. these will boost the rate to 108Mbps. the big issue to remember, no matter how fast your internal lan connections are, you can only talk to to the outside world at the speed of your internet connection be it dsl or cable. and that is only 6 to 8Mbps. so if you are moving big files between machines inside, doing a lot of printing inside, then go with the faster equipment. if you have cable, you can get a second ip address for an extra 5 bucks or so, then have your xps connected directly to your cable modem via a switch and then have the switch connected to your wireless router, keep the usb adapter connected, you can then run at full speed to the internet, and not have any delay due to the router, and still have an inside address to talk to printers ect.
