Your measurement in mm is millimeters. Then, milliliters is a unit of volume. If you mean water, it's about 1gram per milliliter.

now, if you had said how many cube millimetres (mm^3) of iron needed to make a pound of iron, then it would've made a bit of sense

You can not mix measurements -- you are mixing weight and distance.

I think you are referring to ml -- milli liters which is also a weight measurement like pounds are.

sorry to say but millimetres are measuring distance... and pounds measure weight... that's like saying how many inches in a ton? it doesn't make sense.

please review first your question. there cannot be any onversion to your problems because ''mm'' is milimeter which is length mililiters is for volume and pound is for weight.
