Interesting topic.

Well, a A thesis statement is the main point that is to be discussed by an essay. Usually backed up by examples, the thesis statement is the theme of the whole piece.

So you could open up your paper, with a question.

What is stress? give a brief definition and then maybe throw a statistics about stress on people, then finish the thesis statement up with stress can have a variety of sources, effects. However there are several different strategies with coping with such daily stresses.

Hopefully that helps!
Definitely a great topic though!

It depends on how long the essay is supposed to be as there are many things involved with each of your topics. Sources alone abound, so you might find a list of stressful jobs (firemen and teachers head most lists) and other stressful things are family, money, religion, job, traffic, etc.

Same thing for effects in that you can become ill, full of rage, depressed, isolated, driven, want to become a hermit or just get off the planet. If this is to be a short paper, pick one or two and go on.

You can pick coping strategies as well. They would go from drugs and alcohol, violence, seeing a counselor, talking to a doctor, have family "meetings," writing in a journal, discussing problems with your boss, engage in sports or just exercise, meditate, and that list goes on and on. No easy answers for a difficult problem.
