Nothing. Each year the focus of black history month becomes less and less. This is all a part of society's plan to rule out African-American Heritage because they hate to give credit to the many prestigious blacks that have actually provided and made a way for this world. It is up to us, as blacks to keep our children informed of their heritage and our accomplishments. The schools are not going to teach it, so it must be taught at home. That is why as a young black mother, I am home-schooling my daughter. She is only 5, very intelligent and bright. She is already writing, reading, adding, subtracting, speaking Spanish, and identifying inventors and inventions of the black heritage. I refuse to let the schools hold her back when I know she's capable of obtaining and learning any and everything. Stand strong and keep your heritage alive. Teach your children.

I'm going to temper my answer. Why shouldn't the children learn about other cultures? There are many, many nationalities in this great country, We probably wouldn't have the railroad system we have in this country, if it weren't for the Chinese. The Japanese AMERICANS were literally held as "prisoners of war", in THEIR OWN COUNTRY!!! I could go on about the other nationalities that have made great contributions to this country, that don't get a month to celebrate it, or have their chiidren an oppertunity to learn about it.!
