My son and I like playing C&C Generals. We have two desktops that are hard wired to the same router, but we can't seem to figure out how to network them to play games. Any suggestions?

buy a LAN line, connect to LAN port of both pc
Then, create a LAN connection:

To open Network Connections, click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network Connections.

If you are connecting to your local area network, the network connection connects automatically.

If you need to create a network connection, in Network Connections, under Wizard, double-click Make New Connection.
For information about using Network Connections, click the Help menu in Network Connections.

1-If u and ur son are connected to one Router than u dont need to do any thing ... Just click game ..go to Multiplayer option..there would be "Lan" option (but first u need to run the game u want to play with ur son) then click "LAN" option....there Must be UR game link ... find it...

2-but in case if u had not any router then there will be the option of networking ... but u already networked ..... so go to option 1 ..bye

what is the specific problem. if the game requires you to connect to an outside server, then you will always be playing with that type of the connection. If you are permitted to specify a specific ip address, the fact that you are connected to the the same router says that you are on the same lan and you should be able to see each other.

You must first create a network. hardwiring alone wont do.Furthermore you need to set up the game for LAN mutiplayer.
