The proposition in Missouri & Maryland is misleading....intentionally misleading by the dems. Stem cell research was already legal. The bill that they voted on concerned using federal tax dollars to clone and use those stem cells.

They libs always come up with names for propositions that dont accurately describle what exactly the props entail. Take for instance the "Fairness Doctrine". Who would vote against fairness, right?? This doctrine was proposed by the libs. It would mean that if a radio station has "The Glenn Beck Show" (conservative talk show host) on its station, they would be required by law to also have a liberal talk show on also.....in other words, they would have to play equal amounts of liberal and conservative radio....which goes directly against the 1st amendment.

Note to Romare: I didnt say it was new. I realize that we had it and it was done away with during the Reagan administration. My objection to it is this. A radio station should be allowed to have whatever they desire on their airwaves. The fact of the matter is that conservative radio gets WAY better ratings than liberal radio (i.e. the now defunct Air America). Also, maybe YOU should do some research and read the 1st Amendment.

Stem Cell Research. Another key issue for democrats when on the campaign trail, but another forgotten issue now that mid term elections are over. Another example is the war in Iraq! Democrats won back the house and the senate insisting on a change in the current strategy. Now they've fallen back to simply asking for a deadline as to when things will show signs of improvement. In other words, they're not going to do ANYTHING different! Let this be a lesson to all who voted for the democrats last November! They'll do and say ANYTHING to get your vote. What they do once they're elected however, is usually something completely different!

Note to Johnny: Perhaps you should use the internet to do some research. The Fairness Doctrine is not a new thing; it is a doctrine we had for many decades until the conservatives did away with it. People who advocate the doctrine simply want to go back to the way it was so that Americans would have a wide variety of opinions to listen to. What would your objection to that be? That you don't want anyone to have any new ideas? If you feel confident in your beliefs, you shouldn't mind that the media (which is, after all, using our public airwaves for FREE) is required to provide balanced political information.

There was an stem cell initiative passed recently. actually.

I dont support it because embryonic stem cells have shown no promise at all.
It should have been a bill to fund adult stem cell research and blood cord stem cell research since those types 'have' shown practical use and promise.
But I think that there are other issues involved.

But anyway they did do something with it.

So the thumbs down people.. you doing the thumbs down because im agreein that dems did something? or is it people who dont like the fact that embryonic stem cell research has shown to be fruitless. its a fact there has been no breakthroughs with it.

C'mon Neocracker, don't confuse these right-wing pinheads with the FACTS.

If one of them posts a statement that the sun rises in the West, then the rest of them will chime in and agree and repeat it. Of course, when the sun rises in the East tomorrow, they'll all just ignore the OBVIOUS reality and just keep parrotting their delusional garbage ... sort of like they keep doing about WMDs.

Tragically sad.

It was passed in the House on January 11th. Within the 100 hours by the way. Don't lie and claim it wasn't.

There isn't much they can do since both adult and embryonic stem cell research is still legal. The only thing they could do was make government funds available for embryonic stem cell research. The whole stem cell issue was just more fluff spit out by Dems to get elected by their uninformed voters.

Everything they said during the campaign was designed to get votes. None of it had anything to do with their agenda. If you have listened to them since the election, they claim a 'mandate' for things they never mentioned during the campaign. Who said you can tell when a politician is lying because his mouth is moving?

Their first priority was Iraq and trying to stop the "surge." Politics move slow. It will eventually come up.
