The new one is a actual serious attempt to tell the story.
Better actors(Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Edwards), great director(David Fincher of Seven, Fight Club etc.) and a good script. I saw this last night and I also saw the 2005 version, which I rented at a video store.
The 2005 version looks like a low budget straight to video selection. It was a pretty bad movie with a weak script. And the actors were terrible I believe the "star" was Macauley Culkins younger brother Rory if I can remember and Robin Tunney(who I only ever saw in 'End of Days' which is another pretty bad movie).
The latest incarnation is a tight thriller, even if you do know the facts about the story it will still hold your attention and have you wondering what's next.
As for some other posters saying they can 'update' facts, nothing has changed from 2005-2007 regarding this case, as it remains unsolved only because the prime suspect died of a heart attack. Coincidentally, all letters, phone kills, murders stopped after his death.

My heavens, I never have been flashed, but I did unintentionally flash a few folks once. I was in the hospital some time back and decided to take a stoll to the vending area. Well, I wasn't thinking about what I was wearing and, let's just say that those hospital gowns don't leave a lot to the imagination on the backside. The nurse came up from behind me and put a blanket over my shoulders . . . I was wondering why it was a little drafty back there!

Since they never caught the 'real' Zodiac killer, they can speculate and change facts around as much as they like. Check the net and you'll learn there have been over 70 different movies made, all about the Zodiac killer!

I think it's stupid that they make a new zodiac. The old zodiac was fine and whoever made the new one is a psycho. I never even heard of a new zodiac! Has anyone else!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
