On feb 19th, i went ot the doctors and was given antibiotics. the doctors didn't tell me when was wrong with me but when my mom called the doctors said i had a throat infection thats spread to my chest as well (so I have both). I had had off and on fevers and that night, passed out at hockey partly from the fever, another part from the hyperventilation.

It's been 10 days and I'm done my antibiotics, but I still find I'm having trouble breathing, and I'm still coughing phlegm up and I do find I'm still tired often.

Should I see a doctor? Or wait it out some more?

I don't know if this helps, but I do have asthma and it constantly feels like someones sitting on my chest. I do feel better, but I'm still coughing alot and stull coughing alot up......he told my mom that when chest infections spread in asthmatics, they normally have to go to the hospital...so i'm a little scared, thats why i haven't gone back yet...

It is possible your medication wasn't strong enough. You may need a different prescription to clear up an infection. You should talk to your Mom and tell her you finished your medication but you are not feeling better. She will most likely schedule another doctors appointment then to see how you really are doing. If I was your Mom that is what I would do for my child.

I'd go back.
My brother is recently getting over and throat and chest virus of some sort. He was given steroids but it turned into bacterial bronchitis and he ended up needed an inhaler along with more meds.
They may be able to give you a decongestant to help you breathe a little easier, and at least going back to check will make sure you've made progress and havent gotten worse.
Good luck and feel better soon!! =)

Yes, you should at least call the doctor you saw and ask him or his nurse what you should do. Sometimes the doctor prescribes an antibiotic that just doesn't do it. I've had to cough up stuff from my lungs before so they could culture it so they would know which antibiotic to use. Since you have taken all the antibiotic, there is no reason to think you will get any better. Please call your doctor.

See a doctor.
Something like a throat infection that spreads to the chest can get worse.

If I was you and you are still having trouble breathing and you are still tired. Yea, it could be the antibiotics but you should go see a doctor. Just because, there could be something with the antibiotic they gave you or there might be something else wrong w/ u.

i know that even when im getting over a cold or flu, the whole "coughing up phlem" phase will continue. it just has to get out of you. the breathinig troubles sound more serious though, so for that reason i say yes, follow up with your doctor and just ask whats up.

Does it "taste funny"? Does it hurt to breathe?

There are so many viruses and bacteria going around - if you don't feel better in the a.m. - go get seen.

Good luck.

I was on 3 different antibiotics before I kicked whatever I had before Christmas...sheesh - two moths.

I would have to say that if you have finished the medicine and you still feel like this then yes you should go see a doctor.

Hope you get feeling better soon.

you should see a doctor and when you are sick stay home in bed resting drinking plenty of fluids to get well.when you are sick your body is weaker and prone to pick up more colds flus or viruses,so for your own health and to not spread things around stay home until you are well and strong.good luck.
