I'm trying to play my new game, but everytime I enter the CD it says, "Please insert a CD".

I'm still able to burn music onto blank CD's, but my game isn't working. My computer is compatible with the game, so that's not the problem. But the CD won't even show up on "My Computer". Please help me, I just won't to enjoy "The Sims Life Stories".

Can your drive play DVD's? Some games are now coming on 1 DVD versus several cd's.
You could also try to uninstall the cd drive thru the system hadware properties manager. This way when you restart the computer, windows will reinstall the drive..... I have had this work for me once.

Good luck, hope you get to play soon!

Are you sure the game CD is a CD and not a DVD disc? If it's a CD, then try using it in another pc's CD drive to see if it's recognized. If it is, then chances are it's a problem with your CD drive. One thing you might try is this: right click on "My Computer", click on "Properties", and then click on the "Hardware" tab. Now click on "Device Manager" and find your CD drive in the listings. When you do, right click on that drive listing and choose "Uninstall". Once that's done, exit from there and reboot the computer. Windows should then "see" the drive as "New Hardware" and reinstall the driver for it. Once that's done with, then try the CD in the drive again to see it it is then recognized. Hope this helps.

Can your CD drive read any other CD's? If it can - then I would suspect the Sim's CD - try cleaning it with a soft cloth. If it is a burned CD - it could be a bad burn job.

sounds like a problem with the cd...if you just bought it, try exchanging it for a new one....does not sound like a problem with your cd rom drive since you can still use it
