I have a buckskin quarter horse that loves to roll in the mud. The problem is that that he has mud stains all over him. What can i use to make the stains go away and not fade is colour?

cowboy magic spot remover works great. There is a dust buster and a green spot remover.
Any shampoo would work fine- there are a few ones made specifically for buckskin. If he is lighter, get a color enhancer. Most shampoos should not fade his color, I have never head of that happening, except for with black horses using a whitening shampoo (go figure).

I would just let him be muddy if you are not showing- it probably feels good. If you are worried, you can buy a light blanket (depending on the weather) and cover him up. The night before a show in the summer, I give a bath and cover with a thin nylon sheet or fly blanket- it helps keep the mud off the majority of their bodies anyways.

Well, a good bath goes a long way to keeping stains from setting in. If you can't bathe him, then get a spot remover to use after you curry and brush the mud off. His color is his color, you won't make his color fade by washing it, unless you use bleach (which I would not recommend).

If it is too cold for a bath or you just want to clean a spot you can put some plain rubbing alcohol on a clean white towel an rub the spot out. This also works well for manure stains.

you could use a little bit of Quick Silver if you don't let it stay on to long then it should not bleach him.
