I know you play soccer in school but what is the average age to start playing soccer on a team out of school (dos not mean competitive). I really just what to know if 12 years old is to late to start playing soccer, when you only know the basic rules and to kick the ball.

It really depends... is he/she planning to start soccer in a competitive league, premier, or rec? Personally, I wouldn't suggets anything other than rec to start off with, and if the child would like to get more involved, move up to competitive after about a year or so, if he/she is doing alright and feels fairly advanced for rec league. Also, I would suggest taking some private lessons begore moving up to comptitive.

12 years old is absolutely NOT too late.. You are still very VERY young. How a 6 years old play will be different to how a 12 years old play.

Soccer relies on a foot reflex you have to get used to. By training the very basic for a couple of months. Once you are very comfortable with the basic and played a few games, You start keep on developing strategies and skills by playing games.

No one is born with foot reflex for soccer and it is great that you're starting early, if you like the game do it for the love of it. That's what the sport is about.

It's like playing guitar & skating, few people says you cant start late. =[ Like you're suppose to be born with it.... But it only takes a couple of months before you start really playing if you do really put your head into it.

Good Luck mate!

I started when I was 5 but some people are naturally good with the ball and can start during high school, so your not late or anything.
