I would back the nurses 110% if they took strike action against the govt for this downright insulting pay cut they are expected to take. Not only is their care taken for granted on a day to day basis by the general public, these heroes are subject to abuse, violence, threat of litigation, mis management from the top heavy NHS, total patronising govt officials who just presume the nurses will be at work etc etc etc...I am so angry...without you guys my baby son who was born premature would not be here, my wife who collapsed with acute placenta previa would not be here, when I was seriously injured in the forces without you guys I wouldnt be here, both my parents recieved the kindest and best care during fatal ilnesses. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.....I suppose as always you guys will still be there in the morning...from the silent majority we love and appreciate you...if it was me I'd give you the world on a stick. x

My mum is a nurse and if they are all like her there is not a chance of a full scale all nurses walking out type strike-they care about the patients too much.

Thats why the government can get away with such crap pay rises.

As always there will be plenty of talk, which is what the government rely on and then of course the whole thing will cave in.One way to make a point would be for nurses employed in the private sector to refuse to treat members of the government, think about it the nurses are all in the same union and Blair and his cronies have no respect for the NHS as they go private.

I used to work as a nurse in the NHS and believe that nurses have done well under ths government. However the RCN as a union was an overpriced scam, the NMC is a ridiculous over priced shambles, and as for 'agenda for change', don't get me started! I work in the private sector these days and await the downfall of this once glorious institution.

i worked as a nurse until 2 years ago... i dont think nurses will strike, because the majority havnt got the guts to..its not a question of they care for the patients too much, they have just been brow beaten and cowed by management and government and dont see how they can make a difference. nurses dont support each other as was evident on the tv programme about violence in the nhs the other night, one nurse took a stand and others told her she should back down.... where i worked some of the surgeons threw sharp instruments at staff and screamed abuse at them, management discouraged staff to complain...i was only sorry it never happened to me as id have seen them in court! the thing with nurses is its not all about pay its also about how we are treated generally in the work place and the working conditions.... all you will see is a further reduction in student numbers and an increase in foriegn nurses as nhs nurses leave in droves, in order to preserve their sanity..which after 14 years is what i did!

I think they will feel insulted and unappreciated and keep on working for the good of their patients because it's in their make-up. They have a strong sense of duty. They deserve more respect from our government who always say what a great job they do and then give them a pay rise they say is line with inflation...

I dont think they will strike because who else would look after the sick? I DO think they should strike purely for the principle! I am not a nurse but I believe it is important that they should be recognised for the good work that they do!!
