I am looking for a cell phone that has a plan where I can make international calls (to Mexico) and I can make calls to the US and Mexico while I am in Mexico and where I can also do a lot of text messaging to a phone in Mexico. Any ideas?

Your best bet is to get a GSM phone for here in the US (either Cingular or T-Mobile) that is quad-band, and when you go to Mexico get a SIM card from one of their providers there, Telcel or Digitel are the big ones there I think, (prepaid of course). Text messaging to a phone in Mexico is usually about $0.25 per message to send and $0.10 to receive. Getting a phone that works here AND in Mexico while staying with the same carrier is way too expensive, but if you don't mind that then it would not matter and a GSM carrier is still your best bet.
