Actually, I was just reading a question by Southwest something or other, who actually answered this question. His question was about finding the cure to liberalism, and several conservatives answers had something to do with using guns.

Because they make money on it. Guns is a billion dollar industry widely supported by the conservatives and that supports them in return in elections.

I'm a liberal and own several guns.
When I move to the States I hope to buy a Peacemaker.
Like it or not we need weapons to defend ourselves, our homes and families from criminals as the police are only partly effective, they can't be everywhere at once.
Owning a weapon is a sign of freedom and responsiblity; self- determination, away from government intervention. Responsible ownership and carrying a gun by a law-abiding citizen hurts no one, it's only the irresponsible criminal elements who cause harm.
Any attempt to take away guns from law-abiding citizens is a sign of government despotism, an attempt to control the people and opress them. A society without guns would be like the UK (London now has more shootings than New York, criminals will get guns no matter how harsh the legislation). Once they've banned your right to own a weapon they'll strip you of your other rights. Eventually you'll lose the right to free speech, it's already happening in the UK with the arrest of Muslim clerics who oppose the regime.

The States that have right to carry laws have less violent crime and home invasion robberies. Australia passed a law several years ago and took every gun away from law abiding citizens. So who had all the guns then? It took the liberal government two years to work out the punishment for the rash of home invasion robberies. The framers put the Second Amendment there for a purpose and it was not just to defend ourselves from criminals, but to also defend ourselves from a government that takes our freedoms from us.

Guns aren't the answer to everything, but sometimes they are the final answer. Truman seemed to think the answer to Japanese aggression was a couple of Atomic bombs. Kennedy and Johnson thought the key to stopping soviet aggression in Asia was sending in more and more soldiers. Wilson tried to send troops to France for two years, forging false letters between the Mexican and German consulates, until the Germans finally torpedoed the Lusitainia.

I'm a liberal and I enjoy target shooting. I never have ammo in the house. If an intruder kills me with my own gun he will have to bring his own bullets. Many Republicans are from rural areas where guns and hunting are a part of the culture. That's why gun ownership is more important to Republicans in general. My cousins got their first rifles when they were like eight years old. They know how to use them and they learned gun safety at an early age. Sadly there is no mandatory gun safety course for gun owners.

Guns are the answer to:

I am hungry, I need to kill something for dinner

Someone is raping my daughter

Someone is breaking in my house

I would like to enjoy myself and shoot targets/skeet.

That is about all the issues guns are the answer to.

All the rest of the answers have to do with logic, not feeling.

Where did you do your research? MOST is like that word that says, makes an as* out of you and me. A lot of conservatives think a big dose of uncorrectness in politics would start some good thing happening. .

The gang members who kill each other, the guy with road rage, the crack head who needs 5 bucks, and the kid gone wrong who brings a gun to school and uses it are all conservatives? And all those others that use guns in criminal ways that I didn't mention are conservatives also?

For the same reason that "social deprivation and deliberately induced retardation is a substitute for innocence". Why should only women carry guns in their purses? Why couldn't men have guns in their cars?

wow thats a stupid generalization.. What do they think guns are the answer to? I'm a liberal but that question was kind of retarded with no facts to back it up.

I know, right? I mean, people just keep waiting on the world to changer and conform to the things of this world.

Sometimes, I think it is easier to just pull out our guns and shoot up the place. If everyone is dead, there's nothing to complain about. Right? Wrong.

I guess if everyone just started paying attention to the problems of this world, maybe it'll be a little different.

'And we keep waiting, waiting, waiting on the world to change...'
