People like that rock! Ok so that was sarcasm. Yeah I have a friend/former co-worker as a matter of fact who is like that. I recently told him I got a new TV, he said his wife bought him a new motorcycle and then he proceeded to tell me more things he and his wife have bought or are planning on buying. It really doesn't bother me much. I think if the guy feels the need to impress ME then goody for him and that makes me feel special that someone wants to impress me. Ain't I grand?? HAA! So you should feel grand!

You will always find someone that tries to be "one up" on you, no matter where you are. It just doesn't happen at work. People can be very petty.
My cousin does that all of the time! If I mention that I bought new shoes, she has to have gotten a new wardrobe. When I paid $400 for my dog, she claims she paid $750 for hers. My vehicle is a 2000, her is a 2004. It's never ending! She says her kids walked, talked and learned the alphabet sooner than mine did. My kids were accepted into an early learning program at the age of 2 and hers were accepted at the age of a year and a half. None of which the above, she has proof of. She is just very competitive and apparently feels the need to run others down. I could go on and on and on! UGH!!

I have a friend who is like that. At least, she used to be. She and I went to Mardi Gras several years ago with 2 other friends (1 girl, 1 guy). She and the guy wanted more to hang out on Bourbon and party than we did, so we went separate ways. Every night when we all got back to the room, if we'd tell a story about something interesting that happened to us, something 10 times better (or worse) happened to her. We finally just stopped telling her anything much so we wouldn't have to hear about it. To this day she still doesn't know about the nice lady we met who fed us homemade food and let us use her clean bathroom.

Yes, I know people like that. My mom actually. It's annoying. I just don't talk about myself because all they really care about, is themselves. Sad little creatures.
