Yes you can. Especially if you wear goggles.
However when you go underwater without goggles... you cant open your eyes out fully. You have to make a sort of 'squint.' I have been able to swim with contact lens myself in the water. However when I was not careful it went up my eyelid, but of course it can always pop out of your eyes.
So advice: please wear goggles, better be safe than sorry
or if you just want to experiment why not wear your nearly expired contacts to the pool and try it out. that was how i found out what I am telling you. Nothing to lose after all.

If you are wearing goggles they will not fall out unless water gets into your goggles, but all my friends with glasses got goggles with there prescription for there eyes in then lenses of the goggles so they can see and didn't need to get contacts just for swimming.

You can go swiming with them in just wear goggles. DO NOT go under water without goggles and open your eyes because your contacts will fall out and if they dont fall out your eyes could get infected. Not a good idea. â¥

Yes, your contacts can fall out if you open your eyes, but wear goggles, and try not to take them off and adjust them a lot.

You can go underwater and open your eyes, just don't open them completely, you'll lose your contacts. It's better to use goggles.

I am on a competitive swim team, and swim 5 times a week. I have had contacts since I was a baby, and I always wear them swimming. They wont fall out. When you get out of the water, they may feel dry.

They will definitely fall out of your eyes when you are swimming, so don't do it. Wearing googles really helps, get some really high quality ones though and you'll really be happy about it and you won't have to worry about your lenses falling out

They would fall out. And if they did stay in your eyes, the chlorinated water would get trapped between the contact and your cornea. How irritating would that be!
