I have XP and my task manager isn't working, it's been like this for a couple of weeks, I am positive I have no virus, and when I type in "taskmgr" in the run dialog box, it says "Another program is currently using the file" and it has the red "X" next to it. I tried CTRL + ALT + DEL and Right-Click -> Task Manager, NOT WORKING, Please help me, thanks.

Try a 3rd party system monitor like winpatrol. You may have a startup that you dont know about that is disabling.

ok lets see are you the administrator of your comp? if not certainly it will not function. but if your an administrator then its a different story. sometimes programs on the net disable this property so that they could do something on your pc. so to regain it do this following steps.

1. run spyware removal and antivirus programs

if it doesn't work try this

2. create another user and transfer all your files
