Screen speed and contrast ratio on the HDTV will severely affect your game play with both systems. The low end 720p and 1080p with slow screen speeds will make the games appear to have lag.

No lagging whatsover, but I have a rear projection Panasonic that I got 5 years ago, not an LCD or a Plasma.
