hi.. i am indian and i have dark black hair. My skin color is moderately fair. I wanted to use John frieda brillant brunette shampoo, conditioner, and color glaze to give my hair more shine. I am not allowed to dye my hair nor do i wish to. Will using these products change the color of my hair or will it just make it shiny. If the shampoo changed the color of your hair, please tell me.

The Color Glaze absolutely changes your hair color! It has a clinging odor also. I've used the medium brown and the dark brown, and they both put color in my hair. And on my skin and scalp (you have to be careful). It's definitely not like a dye, even a semi-permanant one, but it does do a color wash that remains in your hair for many shampoos and generally affects the color. It also makes your hair kind of mushy. That sounds strange, but I can't explain it any other way. Your hair is limp (and I have curly hair) and looks dirty much sooner after washing for about a week. I've used my bottles several times in spite of this, because I go for shots of color---but I always make sure to use it on an occasion where I don't have to be seen until after the next shampoo.

I've used the shampoos and conditioners as well, and though I do believe they're meant to impart color, they don't really deposit that much color on your hair. Especially the shampoo. I don't really see how it could, since it also contains cleansers. But they also don't really add any noticable shine, either.

If I were you and wanted shine but no color, I'd get a clear glaze. I once used one [edit: apparently the one I used is not made anymore! Message board people who are sad about it have recommended people try Natural Instincts Clear Shine or Clairol Jazzings instead]. You can also try really effective conditioning, like Matrix Sleek Look Smoothing Deep Moisture Masque. That's my regular conditioner and it makes my hair really shiny.

If you're going to try a glazing treatment and already have a haircolor you're pleased with, I really recommend not using the John Frieda. Try a different (more professional, possibly from a Sally Beauty or salon line) brand at the very least.

Good luck!

I swear by the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette line. I use all the products. The color glaze DOES NOT color your hair. It brings out your natural highlights which is subtle, but it doesn't change your color. You hair is so dark that is probably only make it really shiny. If you are nervous, try it on a small piece of your hair (maybe a piece underneath) and see what happens.

I use it, it makes my hair shiny and just enhances your color, it in no way changes the color of it though.

it makes your brown stand out and look shinier and in good shape, even yet it won't lighten your coloration. I surely have organic very very darkish brown that seems extrememly black not interior the sunshine and that i exploit it and that's all it does, it fairly is all its meant to do i think of in any case.
