This depends on whether or not this is a good writer or a bad writer. But seriously if I was a writer. I would chose a place near a computer, so that I could write down every detail of death. My choice of a place would be a warm tropical expensive environment. All I would need would be a martini( shakin and not stirred), a lawn chair, computer, pretzels, a really cute beach boy to look at, several masculine men to wave fans to keep me cool and most of all a really good storyline to end in death. But you know everyone has thought of death. The older you get the more you think of it. I just thought if I were a writer and I was going die I would need a few things first. (giggle) Good luck with your thoughts and let your imagination flourish. A bad writer might just die in the alley next to the dipsy dumpster. But a good writer would make that dipsy dumpster a great tale to be remembered.

I hope this isn't because you are thinking about something bad...
But, if this is just a general question, I would say... something of personal nostalgia to the writer. The place where he/she wrote his/her first novel/article, at the pub he/she used to frequent after finishing a paper/book...
Knowing that someone passed away in a place where they were happy and will always be remembered is always nice.

I know of a small town called Hernando, Mississippi and in this town they have an old cemetery that is always shady no matter how hot it gets and a white wrought iron fence around it.
This would be the perfect place.
I believe the writer Grisham is from Mississippi.

at a mountain cabin, laying in a hammock under a nice shade tree, book in his,or her, hand his loved ones by his side, a gentle breeze blowing ,looking up at the clouds, waiting for the angels to reach out , lift him up , and take him to his new home where writers never die.
