Use it only for a couple of moderate purchases each month and PAY IT IN FULL EVERY MONTH. You need to use the card to establish a credit record. You need to pay it regularly to establish a GOOD credit record. You need to not run up interest bills so you don't die in debt. Be smart.

A word of advice. Don't use the credit card for anything you don't already have money for already. Going hog wild charging things is how people get into a financial hole, which they cannot dig themselves out of.Just remember that if you just make minimum payments, you are never going to take anything of consequence off the principal amount owed.

Okay, seriously - don't get crazy and rack yourself up with debt. Do you *NEED* anything? If you seriously NEED something, then go get it. Otherwise put it away. You'll thank yourself later.

As tempting as it may be, just put it away until you really need it. I know it's boring, but it's true. If you must buy something, just try to make sure it's practical.
