ok, so the topic is "Why do I have to go to university and what I expect to do with the degree"

so i have to write out the reasons why I need to study in university and what will I do after I graduate?
what I don't understand is the second part "What I expect to do with the degree"

I do know the meaning, but for some reason, it is odd to have an essay topic like this, so I need to make it clear...

plz help, thx!!!

I think the point of the question is what kind of career to you hope to land with the degree.

But you could also go on to talk about how you expect to improve the quality of your life in general--and not just by how much money you will earn, and what increased choices the degree will give you. It is also about the knowledge & information you will have gained: you will also appreciate the world around you better, as you have a greater understanding of how it all fits together & works. This can help you to make better choices in life, be less frustrated by things that bother you, as you will have a greater ability to see why things are the way they are, and hopefully be able to relay that to others, improving their quality of life also.

So you could answer the second part of this question by saying something to the tune of: "I expect to enjoy my life more fully with the information I will get with the academic degree".

For example, my definition of sucess is: "Being able to spend the better part of each day doing what I love the most, and being compensated very well for it."

Educating yourself can give you those types of choices.

A lot of kids go to university and get degrees in psychology, business or broadway sound production, costume design and stuff like that. the problem is that the industry they study for is too narrow or too broad. You cant do anything with a BA in psych..you need to get a masters, become a doctor, but half the kids who get the degree dont, so they are left serving tables and analyzing the people that they serve, hoping for a two dollar tip while their seventythousand dollar degree gathers dust.

the best approach would be to think of the job that you want, then think of the degree you would need to get that job. find that out, then write the paper as your teacher wants it.

You should write about how learning new things will affect your life and how that will tie into what you want to do after your graduate. Second part: what kind of job you want. For example, if you have an accounting degree you might become a CPA.
