Now, granted, the military isn't for everyone nor do they accept everyone that attempts to enlist. Can't a person support the troops even if they aren't fighting in Iraq? To me, this is one of the most disturbing statements I constantly hear from liberals. Either you fight in Iraq, or you burn the American flag and spit on soldiers. You have two choices according to them. Where did this type of hatred for our military come from?

They get it from their leaders like John Kerry. These are the kind of people that use to get drafted, so now you know why John Kerry made his remarks in regards to intelligence. Kerry doesn't understand that we've have a all volunteer military since 73 and the standards have been raised quite a bit.

If you and your fellow Bushies support the troops, why are they coming home and killing themselves because they aren't getting the SUPPORT they need for their Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? Why aren't they getting the medical care they need? Read Newsweek lately? Have you read ANYTHING lately, aside from books by Bill O'Lielly and Sean Vannity? You, who SAY you support the troops probably don't even know about soldiers committing suicide because they aren't getting help or about the recent Walter Reed scandal. You are ignorant. You don't "support" anything except yours and Bush's pocket books. You are a disgrace to this country. Your greed and elections of frat boy drunken greedy jerks will be the downfall of this once great nation. I hope that you someday feel exactly like the soldiers returning home without arms and legs feel. Your magnetic "Support the Troops" bumper sticker hasn't and will not do any good when you vote for the trash that is currently running this country into the ground. You make me sick.

I don't agree with anyone when they make that statement, but I can see where they are coming from. Many people, on both sides of the aisle, have no problem supporting and funding the war, except when it hits to close to home. People get upset when it's okay for their children to go and fight, but when the shoe is on the other foot, all of a sudden it's a different story. My family is a supporter of everyone in uniform, and have had at least one soldier in every generation.

Where did your misunderstanding of what it means to "support the troops" come from? Supporting the troops means to engage them in meaningful defense of our nation (which the struggle in Iraq is not), supplying them with proper armor and ammunition (which the government has not) and treating them, especially the wounded, with respect when they return home (which this government most definitely has not!)

If you believe that the fight in Iraq is to defend American freedom and you feel those who oppose the war are not patriotic, then I urge you or anyone to sign up right now with your local military recruiter. Their standards are very low in order to fill their quotas and they accept almost anyone who wants to enlist. I will stay here and support the troops by electing a government that respects them and their true mission.

I hate to rain on your parade...but I am a liberal who supports our troops. They are honor-bound to do whatever is asked by their country, and agreeing or not has no bearing on it. So why are you "stereotyping" all liberals by the actions of a few?

My son is also a liberal.....in the Army, over in Iraq.

Someday, I hope that everyone, everywhere, will stop making snap judgements on people because of the labels they bear, self-chosen or inflicted. The only true thing about ANY broad group is that every one of them is different, and should never be pigeon-holed.
How would you like me to say "why are all conservatives non-thinking neanderthals who follow the leader unto nuclear devastation , complete with eye-blinders"? Does that fit you?

Never make sweeping generalizations, because YOU are the one who will come through looking foolish.

The draft card burning hippies from the 60's started it all man. When I arrived from Nam to SanFran, Calif, I was told to not wear my uniform and I didn't. Those who did were spit on and had garbage tossed at them. Oh by the way, I am a dem and I fully support all our troops, past and present. So stop putting all your eggs in one basket. AND, my son has completed two tours in Iraq and he has told me, it was like spitting in the wind or shoveling sand againest the tide and that he would never re-enlist to fight a war that can;t be won with the tatics they are using there. He gave up 10 years to find a job on the outside that paid more. Heli Pilot for a big corp.

Nice attempt at spin, but sorry, your dead wrong. If you support Bush's war, then why aren't you over there fighting? Are you writing congress about the deplorable way veterans are being treated? Or are you just one of those yellow ribbon sticker guys whose loyalty for the troops stops immediately after you buy the sticker at wal mart? I talk to veterans all the time and tell them how much i appreciate there service, do you? You see, we do support the troops, its the war that we don't support. And do some research son, recruiters have lowered there standards so low, that even common criminals are being accepted into the service.

People blame the military for just doing their duty. The problem for the military is that stupid leaders keep sending them to other peoples' countries to uphold American interests.

The rest of the civilized world, (that's Britain, most of Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc) just shake their collective heads at the continuing stupidity of American foreign policy. When will America realize that the way to keep America safe is to keep it's nose out of other people's business? The rest of the developed world reached this obvious conclusion long ago.

An example of America's complete lack of understanding of the rest of the world is exemplified by the fact that the spell checker on this site wants me to hyphenate Zealand in the name New Zealand. Haven't you guys heard of an atlas?

It is sort of like put your money where your mouth is. If you talk the talk you need to walk the walk. People who whine about not supporting the troops are usually talking about Iraq. So don't give us that crap about not supporting those who are not in Iraq.

OH DO I LOVE YOUR QUESTION!!!
Its about time some one asked that question!
I am too old to go to Iraq.....
Thats why I'm not there....
There are many reasons but at least I am not out burning US flags and walking naked down the streets of San Fransisco protesting President Bush and the war and doing this all in front of little children like the libs are doing!!!

You can either support Bush's insanity or support the troops. And if you're a Bush supporter, you should go there and die, allowing a decent human being to stay here instead of you.
