Diabetics can have a problem with weight--in fact, there is a link between diabetes and weight. Losing weight can often reduce the need for medicines to control the blood sugar.
The only way to lose weight is to look at it as an equation input (food) is balanced off against need to support the body. That means you have to "play" with the equation. Two things and two things only can be done 1) increase activity to increase the need for calories/energy or 2) reduce intake.
What most diabetics are instructed to do is both--cut down the intake to about 1500-1800 calories a day, low carb (starches and sugars), higher fiber, lower fat and exercise. A brisk walk of 1-3 miles a day will do wonders for the sugar levels and the weight when combined with a lower calorie, low fat, low carb diet.
Now, being diabetic myself, I know that my advice is often not followed at this end! It is hard, it requires some discipline to make it happen. When I am disciplined, I take weight off and control my sugar better. Right now I am being undisciplined, the weight it up and the sugar is often off.
I find it best to keep temptation away--don't eat out much, keep only the right foods in the cabinets and refrigerator. I also find adopting a routine is best--eat at the same time, test your sugar first thing in the morning, exercise at the same time. Adjust the exercise to your intake for those times you are "bad". Do not say "I cannot have" makes you feel deprived. Cheat mildly once in awhile, eat some "bad" foods but sparingly.
Routine helps a lot. Get people around you to understand your disease and accomodate--a dangerous person is the one that says "go ahead, one won't hurt." They are unwittingly sabotaging you. But the person who says "you can't have" is doing the same thing.
The lower your BMI (body mass index) the easier to control the blood sugar.

i dont think so, many diabetics i know are thin after seriously cutting off excess intake...do some exercises or enroll in aerobics class,follow simple routine, if you are hungry eat mildly, if you are tired drink water, if you are sleepy pop in a candy if you dont exercise regularly then ur body is in havock, but always bring some candies or skyflakes with you and a juice drink or tea to avoid being cranky never do anything with an empty stomach, if you cant take tea, there are amplaya capsules in drugstores
