A true prep is someone who wears Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, and an occasional Abercrombie&Fitch, or American Eagle.
Prep's buy classic pieces, and NEVER anything trendy.
Things to wear include ribbon belts, argyle, sweaters tied around the neck, looks neat and put together, pearls, anything monogrammed, tote bags.

Colors are always bright&poppy
+Pink
+Lime Green
+Baby Blue
+Lavendar
+Periwinkle
NEVER black, unless it is a classic piece, like a Little Black Dress

Vacations of interest include Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, the outskirts of London [country side] and New England

Preps don't-
+ Wear tight clothing (ie fitted Abercrombie tshirts or tight flared jeans)
+Shop at the mall or chain stores. They love long-established classic stores and boutiques.
+ Wear heavy makeup. Prep's wear almost no makeup. Lip Balm or a clear lip gloss, brownish mascara, and pinky blush is all you need.
+Use purses. They use tote bags. Its just more classic

But even after all of this, you shouldn't label others OR yourself. You are....you, and should be happy with who you are, and not your label.

I agree with CLA!RE. A true prep actually would never be caught dead in stores like abercrombie, hollister, AE or bebe. They are WAY to trendy.

Do you play golf, go to the country club, have ivy league aspriations, go to martha's vineyard for the summer? If you do, then great you are a prep. If not, you aren't one. That was what the prep was defined as being in the 70s.

The true prep from back in the 70s and 80s wore truly timeless, usually plain conservative fashion. Think khaki pants, polo shirts, oxford shirts, cashmere sweaters, etc. They are very educated, did not say things like oh my good, or like every otherword. They have a vocabulary and they use it.

Please do not mistake wearing a certain type of clothing or color scheme for being a prep. Granted they do have favorites, but that does not define a prep. Preppiness was and is a way of life.

The term as the millienial generation is using it is total a mockery of the word. It is now a bad word.

yeah i think you are lol we LOVE to wear abercrombie and pink lol
just wondering, why do you want to know? lol because there is nothing wrong with being a prep =]
i mean its not really a labeling yourself because even if there wasn't a name for your style, you still would wear it anyways because that is what you like. lol

Yes definitely, but by you asking this question makes me wonder is this how you truly want people to perceive you

HELL YES! The fact that you have princess for your name kinda says it all! But it doesn't have to be a bad thing. Make your life yours!

You are a person not a label.

Stop stereotyping people.
just because you like black doesn't make you goth,
just because you like pink doesn't make you a femnist/girly girl, just because a guy like eyeliner doesn't make him gay,
just because someone likes something you don't,
doesn't mean you are better,
or that they are weird.

I like black, and red. (I'm not a "prep")
I like playing "hard rock", but screaming annoys me. ( I'm not "gothic")

I'm me, and I'm HAPPY!

Labels suck. So, do whatever you want and forget what everyone else is thinking!
