Security. You can't keep everybody happy, and it's not a popularity contest out there. Not everybody is going to "like" us, but they will know that there will be consequences if they mess with us.

The President of the US has to keep the focus on national and international issues, especially the ones that affect America. You cannot keep America secure by withdrawing within America and closing up our borders and dening visas/passports. Too keep America secure requires international engagement with our allies and enemies. There is an old saying, "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer".

In the world of politics, being popular or unpopular isn't like trying to get into a high school clique. Our country has become more than unpopular around the world, and not just to our enemies. Our Allies aren't too crazy about us right now either. A good part of keeping the Allied nations allied is the desire for security among us all. When your Allies disagree with all of your war policies and your manner of handling the chaos in the Middle East, and previously you have treated them more as underlings than equal partners you are treading on dangerous territory. I'm not completely sure as to which candidate you mean, but the candidate I support understands this completely. She understands that we must forge a tighter bond with our Allies to truly fight terrorism and that we need to stand beside them and not in front of them. There will be a lot of work to undo the damage to our reputation around the world since George Bush has trashed it. Our integrity and reputation must be restored, and I believe that Hillary Clinton is the one to do it. So to answer your question in strictest terms, I believe that "popularity" and security are equal partners in the world scheme.

International popularity is important to being secure, ever here the saying that you will catch more flies with honey then you will with vinegar. For example, another government hears of an attack pending on the U.S. would you not want them to report it, then say they deserve it, and let it happen. It is not our friends that attack us it is our enemy's and the more enemy's that we have the greater chance for an attack.

Internationally popularity will help keep us secure. Remember WWI and II, our allies included the British and the French whom we have since alienated. If no one will come to our aid when we are in true crisis, what will happen to us?

All Liberals are disturbing. They believe that if we give everyone money, then they will love us and won't hurt us.
