I think I know a lot of picky eaters and they seem pretty normal to me. We all have foods that don't seem appealing. I know a person who started out liking everything but now is very limited on what she will eat. I like most things but my problem is on how they are prepared or cooked. I am very picky about cooking. I just hate how some people cook. I like the taste of my own recipes the best. I don't believe in forcing kids to try foods that don't appeal to them. I think that is very wrong. I hope you find more things that you like to eat because it gives variety to life!

I don't believe in forcing children to eat anything they do not want to. As a parent and grandparent, I'd encourage healthy eating and offer lots of choices, but never force feed.
I think that only causes a child to have cause to not want to try a food. Or perhaps become picky about what they eat for the rest of their lives.
I don't think there is anything wrong with being particular about what you like to eat. You know what you like, so enjoy that. If necessary take vitamins to ensure you are getting the proper nutrition you need.

I'm not a picky eater. I like almost everything. I have heard that you have to try a new food at least 10 times before you can say whether you like it or not. Most people learn to like the new food by the 10th try. But, because our taste buds are different, some tastes will always taste bad to some people. I tried pickled herring every year because my dad offered it to me on New Year's Day, and I guess that every year taste of it grew on me because now I really like it. Believe it or not. :o) I'm not fat either. Some flavors can be at least tolerable to most people. My mom always said that we didn't have to like it, but we had to learn to eat at least a little of everything on our plate because you might have to eat it at someone else's house. We had to be polite.

Im the same, I only like certain foods, and i like everything v plain and only eating one thing at a time so that the tastes dont mix, like i wouldnt have two different foods on my fork at the same time.... I dont think its that weird and im my ideal BMI so its not affecting my weight etc, tho can be a hassle when going ot for dinner etc.... Ive heard that some people can be super tasters i.e. v v higly developed taste buds so that you can taste textures etc and could detect v slight differences in consistancies, minute diffs in the way things have been cooked etc, Only a v v v small proportion of the ppl have such highly developed tastebuds....it would explain an aversion to lots of different foods, particularly those with v strong flavours unusal textures etc....perhaps some areas of the tastebuds are developed more thn otehrs so hence why you maybe like the particualr foods you do.
As long as you like a few things at least should be ok, i used to get told i was picky out of worrying about my weight. Weight never enters my head i simply dont like the tatse of a lot of foods....dont think you necessarily grow out of it, i know older ppl than me who are just as picky (im 23), Ppl say ul grow out of it i think cos they think its just u being picky and defiant as a child ony eating certain stuff but if it is the supertaster thing which i did watch a convincing prog about then you wouldnt grow out of it. I dont expect to. As i say if youre a normal weight, like at least a few foods so ure not eating the same thing every day, wouldnt worry! Ive tried, trying new things but doesnt work, i genuinely hate alot of foods, and thye make me feel physically sick to this day trying to eat them no matter how much i set my mind to varying my diet

When I was a kid, my mom always pushed spinich at me and I hate the stuff. I just didn't like the taste, the appearance, or the feeling I got when I ate it.
Picky? Maybe, but only that and maybe a couple other things, but otherwise, I will eat just about anything.

I don't think that what you like has anything to do with growing up. We all have our own particular tastes.
Fortunately, I am not a picky eater.

I am still a picky eater and I have always been one but I have learned to like more foods such as cucumbers, tomatoes and different vegetables...I guess in the end it depends on what foods you grew up on and how they were prepared...they could still be growing along with you..

Yeah, I am. And you don't know how many times my parents have said to me that what I hate to eat now is what I'll probably eat in the future. Yeah right.
Just yesterday, I realized how unmexican I really am. My friend, an american, brought mexican food, tamales, to school. Everybody said they smelled so good, and I said I hated tamales. My friend, who is an emo-ish type mexican who really doesn't act mexican, said that was weird, because all mexicans love tamales. He later found out that I don't speak spanish, either. Am I the weirdest mexican you've ever heard of, or what? Anyway, I later said I didn't like anything. I am sooo picky. I hate salsa because it's chunky. Chunky is gross.

I'd be happy, I use to be a very picky eater and fit then my taste widened and I became morbidly obese.

There are millions of things you could try,but you wont, its pathetic, you cant hate all of them.
You would find that there was little you would not like if you would only try, your missing out on a wonderful experience ,believe me.
Most people have avery small list of things they dont like.
