A depression on the scale of the 1930s is extremely unlikely. But we are headed into a recession. Which is going to case all kinds of panic and doomsday rhetoric--just as every recession does.

And while I'm sorry for the people who will take losses--the reality is that we are overdue--and recessions are a normal part of the economic cycle. this one will be a little worse than most, due to the excessive spending we've seen the last 5 years. But the economy will recover--and practically everyone will forget it instead of learning from the experience.

Same as always. Sigh!

Our economy is very resillient, yet it has become increasingly global. I think that we have put many checks and balances in place to prevent a 1929 style crash. The real threat comes from decreasing home prices, which could drastically decrease wealth and confidence among the American "middle class."

1929 depression? How can that happen? We may have another depression but we can't have another 1929.

After they learned from that one, they have strived very hard to make the Stock Market more safe and reliable, there have been few small depressions but they were stopped in time.

Now that we've learned, like half the U.S doesnt put their money strictly into the Stock Market...
