I am very shy and tend to keep to myself (except over the internet). I wish I could find the way to get out of this bad habit and really enjoy life. I need to risk more but I am afraid.

I am afraid to be afraid. Every time I do something out of fear, my life becomes less eventfull, less fun, less loving, and sometimes a lot of trouble.
It's like life is forcing me to confront my fears, or punishing me for having them.
I know because I have taken the time, introspectively, to analyze my life experience. Every time I had the courage to overcome my fear, I had a blast, and learned a lot, even made many new friends.
Every time I gave into my fears, I missed out on something, started having regrets, got in trouble, or got hurt.
Now I hope I don't have anything to be afraid of. I have noticed that being afraid of being afraid is kinda therapuetic, because it nutralizes the fear.
Of course, this is not to say that fear is also not a healthy thing. There are healthy fears also, such as being afraid to jump off a 100 story building, or walk in front truck. This is a healthy fear response, one I care not to lose.

I wish I had the courage try to make it on my own as an entrepreneur, and become really successful that way. I've always really wanted to help other people, and I'd probably use the money to start my own charity for AIDS or to assist the genocide in Darfur. Then again, I'm not even in college yet, so I guess there's always time...

For me it's kinda vice versa. I am afraid of something so I want (i wish) I could do it.
I am afraid of heights so I want to do montain climbing to face my fears. I'm so scared of heights that its really sad. When I went on the London eye I had to sit on the bench and couldn't even let myself see london from there. One time I went indoor rock climbing in middle school and I couldn't even climb to the top of the indoor small ones at first. I knew that I was totally safe and even if I fell nothing would happen (since we're attached to our instructors below and the cieling). At the end during lunch break I finally went and climbed my first one in twenty minutes.
