I live with both cats and dogs. Speaking from experience, I'd have to say cats. There's an old joke- dogs come when they are called, cats take a message and get back to you. Dogs are more social, they love people, adore attention and will do anything they can for you to show you they love you. Cats choose who they'll associate with, they choose their moments for attention and interaction. Dogs seek out attention, cats seek out intelligence. Dogs are easily trained, partly because they want to please their humans. Cats can be trained, but it's on their own terms, and only if it will benefit them somehow- not the humans.

Cats are way smarter. Even though you might think that cats are just lazy and dumb, dogs are not half as smart. Cats are just lazy.

It has to be the cat. A dog will do what you want it to do, fetch, roll over, stay, sic 'em. While a cat is smart enough to get YOU to do everything for THEM, feed me, pet me, let me scratch on your leg, I will sleep where I want not where you put the cat bed.

A cat... you don't see them listening to their owner unless it is for food, to go outside, or to be pet. (I prefer the dumb dog who follows me everywhere, will sit when I want her to, will beg for treats, will chase a ball, and gets crazy excited when I come home!)

In my opinoin cats are smart in their own way and dogs are smart in their own way. So I think they are both smart animals.

dog cause when u read about rescue stories u mostly here about dogs doing them... and they can do more stuff than cats and are just better

Cats, definately! They make you want to please them instead of pleasing you like all dogs do.
