Has anyone else noticed a lot of short and abrupt commercials lately? I've seen this most on ESPN and Fox Sports Net (probably because I'm a sports fan). It usually occurs right before the show is about to go back on air from a commercial break. There was one instance on Wednesday night where they showed a Toyota commercial, then right before SportsCenter went back on the air, there was a shot of a Bowflex machine for a second.
I was just wondering anyone else has noticed this.

These are not one second commercials. Your local cable provider plays local commercials (such as local car dealerships) during the scheduled "commercial time" of the network. So, even though espn is actually playing a Bowflex commercial, your local cable provider will play the local commercial instead of it. The reason you see the 1-second bowflex commercial is because the local commercial ends just in time for you to see the very last frame of the bowflex commercial

basically, this is due to the bad timing of your local cable provider.

This was kinda hard to explalain. I hope this made sense to you

this happens to me to sometimes i think its just bad planning by the network and they do not give enough time for the whole commercial to play i wish commercials were like one sec. it would make watching tv a much more pleasurable thing lol

i ask your self no rely if that's a case of nationally conventional advertisers who purchase a multitude of commercial spots ... and then the television station makes use of a few of that component to air commercials for interior reach companies. it would be exciting to video exhibit which form of commercial advert is "cutting in" to the only already in progression. possibly that's a close-by advert it fairly is pre-empting the advert of a super corporation.
