Jamaica in the 19th century......well, we didnt have a "culture" of our own. During that period, atleast about a quater of it, we were still in slavery and under the influence of the Spanish, Dutch, French and other Europeans.
Slavery was abolished in 1834, at that point the culture was a mixture of African and the European influences mentioned above. After slavery there were other additions to the way of life and customs, this occured with the entrance of the Chinese and Indian indentured workers who came to the island to work as a substitute to the slaves.
The culture in the 19th century was made up of a plethora of different influences, this is still eveident today in our language, patois, which is a combination of English, Afrikaans, and lttle Spanish and French here and there.
Hope this helped!
