Cutting asbestos shingles is a no-no because it's so hazardous. But here's how you do it... use a dry masonry blade in your circular saw (the abrasive kind used to cut brick/block). Stand upwind and make sure nobody is going to be downwind in the cloud you create. Georgia Pacific Co. makes look-alike asbestos shingles that don't contain asbestos. They come in a variety of face textures/patterns and are available at your local lumber yards.

RE:
how do you cut old asbestos/fiber exterior siding shingles when installing them back on the house?
Some repairs were made to parts of the ext wall and wall mounted AC units were removed also. The old shingles were removed but some broke so I have a mix of new and old shingles to reuse but they have to be cut to fit the patches and also around the windows. What and how do I cut and fit them?

If you are replacing the old shingles with new, you don't have to be concerned with asbestose being in them. So, just dispose of the old shingles and do all of the repair with new.
You'll have to ask the supply company you bought them from or email the manufacturer on how to cut them. They used to let you rent a cutter that looked like a paper cutter, but since that kind of shingle is not very popular, I doubt if still do that.
Maybe someone will answer on a way to cut them, I would try an old carbide blade.

I work with this material often and have material available. I have been collecting the old original asbestos slate cutters for a long time and have many. Go to Ebay and type in asbestos slate cutter. There is usually one or two for sale most of the time. It is a good tool to have if you have a house with a roof or siding made of the material. I usually pay around 30-40 dollars for one, plus shipping. They are heavy and make sure you get one with that works along with the punch. Great tool to have. Hope this helps. Vince

You can use McDonalds bags and Busch and Budwieser boxes for landscaping and that should raise the equity.

If they are asbestos, they must be disposed of properly. Asbestos is a carcinogen. They cannot legally be used any more, and if found, by law, must be removed.
