Well, it's kamikaze, but if that's what you really want, you had better just tell the wife and let her handle the kids. She knows how to explain the issue, once she has gotten over it.

Just sit your wife down and tell her. You know that no matter how you tell her she will be hurt by it and wonder if it was something she did. Regarding the kids, it depends on how old they are but I would suggest calling a counselor and asking him/her the best way to tell them.
Check the link below. It's an article on Wikipedia about coming out but it also might have links to organizations you can get a hold of to help you too.
Good Luck!! You are definitely in a difficult situation and I hope it all goes well for you.

I can only imagine how hard that that situation could be and wish you the best of luck.
If you trust your wife I would come out to her first and depending on how she takes it and what you both decide to do only then would I approach your children.
Don't expect your wife or kids to be thrilled with the idea or happy again with you for a long time. Give them time and space but still make the effort to be there for them and still involved in their lives even if they spit in your face.
Quite frankly your children may blame you for any problems that come out of this (if you and your wife split up, when you start seeing another man etc).
Again I wish you all the best of luck. Take things one step at a time though and be patient with them.
Cheers,
P.S. Don't listen to the trolls like Olga!! Gay/straight or martian you have a right to be happy!

as a wife and mom i think the worst way would be if someone other than yourself told them....if your being seriuos here just set down and tell the truth...these things have a way of coming in ways you wouldn't want...like from someone else. i'm sure it will be a shock and really hurt then at first but if they love you they will deal with it.....the wife is prolly gonna be harder than the kids.
Good Luck!

Have a serious discussion with your wife as to your sexual orientation and together make a decision as to how you want to go on with your life.
Then you decide together how, when, where and what to tell the kids.

you have to tell them the true, and please do it before they find out from other surce, that could be really bad and mostly for your kid(s).
So even is a big thing, do it...I wish you the best of the lucks, because it is going to be difficult and maybe you won't find any right words to tell them that...imagine if it is hard to you...how hard is going to be for them, but also keep in mind is something that they have to accept with the time...
Good Luck!

Oh my gosh... I'm sorry... I don't know, I would assume you try and just tell the truth. I can't imagine how hard that would be... ='(
