I've been in Scotland for 35 of my 48 years, the other 13 were spent in the 'soft underbelly' of England (1990-2003).
The 3 most significant things I would share are:
1. The English support Scotland sportsmen, except against their own team, and can't understand why this is not reciprocated. Ever heard English sports comentators?
2. There is a worrying racist bias in Scotland against English settlers; the reverse bias is much less in England. Move on you fellow Scots.
3. The Scots have a reputation for meanness; generally, it's the English who win this competition. For example, you will be lavished with tea and biscuits visiting a Scottish home, and in pubs you wont be asked to account for every penny in the 'round'.

its pretty safe to say it depends entirely on the individual everyone is different im english well i prefer yorkshirien because i myself am not patriotic at all however the man i live with is scottish and is very patriotic he will support any team but england at first i was shocked to discover this dislike of england i had no idea that the scots had any kind of issue with the english mainly because the english are too busy trying to escape their own country because it has been over run with immigrants and the majority of us dont have time to worry about petty feuds. my point is this there will always be silly rifts between countries. mainly over issues lke football and brave heart i dont think any of the feuds between us will ever be serious because england scotland and wales will all have to come together soon and stand together to put a stop to immigration. Before it takes over us all and brings on world war 3.

Even the English don't like the English!
I am from the North East of England, and I hate the indifference this, and other governments have shown to this part of England!

I'm from Scotland, mother was English, father was Irish
yet all the kids born here, so really we are only Scottish by were we were born, never had a problem.

Im born Irish, grew up in east london, still have a london accent, I live in north east scotland and have a scottish wife and my children class themselves as scots. I was in the BRITISH army, served in Ireland, was sent to the Falklands, Iraq, patrolled the border during the great divide, have buried good mates of all british nationalities. Every now and then the question of anti english views come up in Scotland, Wales and \ireland. Heres my take on it, if people dont like me because of the way I speak, dont effin listen, wether white, black, brown, yellow, red whatever, cut me and its red. Im proud to be born Irish, Im proud of my East end roots, Im proud of my scottish wife and children, one of my best mates is West Indian, another is white south african. Forget the feuds, lets just get on with life. Regards.
