am building a 505 ci tall deck chevy w/ 365 cc intake runners Brodix heads-as much compression as I can get easily [13.5 /1] and good rods and crank. I need some hints on specs for a solid roller that will be used for a pulling truck.I need 8000 rpms for wheel speed and a good torque output.

You'd better plan on lowering the RPM's at least 1,000. If it's a drag car only and you plan on overhauling it often, maybe
it'll live at 8,000. the I live near the "Steal Palace", Oswego Speedway home of the super modifieds and they twist their internally balanced 468's (.060 over 454's) 7,400 week in and week out. They all use Carillo rods, forged Crower crankshafts, any brand aluminum heads, Kinsler or Hilborn injection and alchohol. GM.part # 88962216 mechanical roller camshaft, specs. Crankshaft duration @ .050 tappet lift (degrees), I: 266 E: 274. Maximum lift I: 7.14 E: 7.14. Lobe centers 112 degrees. That's the cam for the 572 cu. in. / 720R motor.

for 8000 rpms, you'll want roller cam an lifters an rockers, or at LEAST roller rockers, i race a 406 an it is very tough to keep stamp rockers alive at the 7500 i turn. for a cam profile, call any of the cam manufaturer's tech support, an they are more than happy to take all your info into account to help you out, cams are so speacific now, that they would have the best answer for you, to help you out for your puller! Good luck
