It does not want to release properly. The gears grind when i try to shift. even grabs when the idle is turned down to 880 rpm's

Does it slip, or continuously grab (won't disengage)?
Either way, you'll have to look at it.
The spring could be worn out.
The weights or rollers could be stuck.
The belt could be glazed.
Like I said, it has to be looked at.
