RE:
How do you make a humidifier smell better?
We use a humidifier in my 8 month-old son's room and it smells stale. I've changed the filter and we change the water every night, but it still smells sour. And it's definitely the humidifier - not the diaper pail, as I used that humidifier in a different, diaperless room before and got...

1, Use bleach when you wash it out - about once a month. # 2, Try poring in a little vanilla extract. # 3 Sprinkle some cinnamon around the room. That can't kill the smell but it sure will cover it up. Nutmeg or allspice will also work but not as well.

If you find that your humidifier begins to smell musty four or five days after it has been cleaned, add a tablespoon of bleach to the water. "This will make it smell fresh again"

I put essential oils in the little container meant for "Vick's" or another decongestant. The steam picks up the smell wonderfully. Stick to the good oils because the ones you pick up in Walmart hardly smell at all. I like the Lavender oil and so does my husband. I am planning to branch out to another delicious smell for variety. A few drops in the morning is all it takes.

put a few drops of fresh lemon juice in the water. Clean with white vinegar water/solution (I believe it's 1/4 cup vinegar with 1 gallon of water).
