Boot cut jeans, are kinda like a hybrid of a bell bottom and a strait cut jean. Okay, a bell bottom has pants legs that widen at the bottom kinda like the shape of a "bell". Strait cut, are pretty much the same width down the entire pant leg and fits closely to the ankle area. Now a boot cut, is only slightly wider than a strait cut at the ankle. The idea is to be wide enough to fit the jeans over the top of a long boot, instead of trying to stuff the pant leg into boot
However, if you want to wear your boot over your jeans strait cut is the best bet. Bell bottoms and boot cut are kinda difficult to get the jeans into comfortably.

Bootcut is when the leg seams don't taper down like a skinny jean, or flare. It's straight down the leg.

Boot cut: Wider at the bottom quarter of the leg to allow for the pant to fit over boots. A good pick for girls with larger hips, as it makes you look more proportioned

slim cut jeans that "cut out" to fit a boot. So a flare leg but the flare doesn't start till further down the leg.

It is a pair of jeans that are relatively straight but have a very slight flare at the bottom.
