I have this very nice laptop case with rubber zips, once I had my hands in ashes and I accidentally touched one of these zips, which are made out of rubber. It is now impossible to clean them - I tried with different cleaning liquids and it didn't work. How can I clean these rubber parts?

Thanks in advance,

Is this a laptop or a case for it? I would use as stupid as it may sound vegetable oil on it. It should make the 'dry' looking area go away and it will also make the rubber more supple. Hope this helps you out. Good luck

Okay I know that this is a dumb answer but
see if you can replicate the ash on something else of a like material.
Then subject that thing to all sorts of cleaning products.
my first impluse was to suggest hot water and bleach (but since it is a laptop I dont know that that is the best course of action).
but it has been my experience that BLEACH will remove any stains if used with hot water.
GOODLUCK
