In front of the bartender&mgr 7 shards after drinking half of my drink. mgr said she'd personally make us new ones then served us bread to soak up any digested glass, then new drinks had more glass in it.
after looking at me like i was crazy she offered to pay bill and let us leave, no questions asked. are the proper procedures for restaurants to take? thanks

Chances are , a glass got broken in the rinse sink or dishwasher and someone was too lazy to clean up all the glass and rewash the glasses.
She should have seen to it that this was fixed immediately and served you again free of charge, along with an apology and hopes that you wouldn't suffer any internal injuries and possibly sue for so many infractions that occurred that I won't even list them here.
