There are Over 300 million people in this country. Only one million
makes over $40,000 a year. Federal poverty level is at $49,000 per year. So what is the rest of the 299 million people. Poor, dirt poor, or homeless and unaccounted for. People die all the time because they can not feed themselves. The media makes everyone believe that everything is peachy keen in this country. It is not they do not show the really bad parts. There are whole areas of this country that are like a third world country yet you will not see it on the news. Because they are forgotten. Only thing is who support the government. Not the rich it's the poor. Even the dirt poor there groceries are taxed to add insult to injury. If you are lucky enough to get anything back count your blessing, Because the government stopped caring along time ago and the people are stretched too thin themselves to care. They care, but it's too far to stretch there resources well they know they may not be able to eat tomorrow either.

Of course you have a right to have an internet connection. However, a computer is costly and it takes money to maintain one. You have to make choices sometimes and food and warmth for your kids comes before luxuries. I do care about your children. I have noticed that food stamps are often quite ample per person if spent prudently and junk food and soft drinks are eliminated. Perhaps you could find an online job to make money or perhaps one of you could keep the children so the other could work. There are many ways to make extra money even if you have a disability. Perhaps you could babysit. There are a lot of government programs to assist the disabled and children in need. But people need to prove they are helping themselves the best they can before others should have to pick up the cost.

People are cruel and some of them are heartless.

You sound like you are having problems and I am guessing that you are on disabilty.

I know a lot of people who get disabled working at minimum wage jobs and the only thing they have to fall back on is SSDI, which is hard to live on especially who have kids.

Some people reading this will say that people who get SSDI could work if they wanted too. So they automatically think the person is freeloading. They don't know the exhaustive testing and documentation you have to have in order to qualify for SSDI and frankly most people don't care about others.

It's easier to blame the victim than to care. I would say the majority of people do not care about others, so I am not surprised that you get things said to you that are not only untrue but hurtful as well.

You can't change people, but you can do things to help make the money go farther.

There are books that teach how to live on a minimum income and make ends meet. Your children may not have all the toys and not all the fad things that kids seem to revel in, but the books will show how to obtain good food for them.

The books will have things in it like how to make breakfast out of raw oatmeal or hardboiling an egg and never to buy any food, clothes or anything that is a name-brand but always buy bulk or generic. Cut off the cable, if you have it, enroll your kids in free sports leagues or other activities for fun instead of watching TV, things like that. They will grow up with a lot healthier than some rich kids.

There are also support groups on the internet of people who have to make do with SSDI. They will be able to help you and you won't feel alone.

I know it is difficult and unfortunately I wish I could say that the average person cares about others, but I unfortunately I can't.

btw, free internet access is part of the SSDI program, to the person who said you can afford the internet. SSDI people are shut in or they don't qualify for SSDI.

You say you are on disability? Then you should be receiving help from Medicaid with food stamps. Go to the Medicaid office & ask them to tell you where you can receive additional help. There are a number of places that provide free food to those who need help, find out where they are & go get some food for your kids! Looks like you have not explored all the possibilities available to you for help. Give it a try. Don't just sit there & say that we don't care about the poor, there is too much help out there for people to be as mean as you think.

Because the government would rather waste money on wars.
Until they pull out here's a solution: Find a better job. Maybe study part time at a college to get the skills for better paid work.
Or take on several menial jobs like my grandparents, they came over from Poland with nothing, but by the time they retired they had a house, car and TV and their children had all got degrees

just because you have a disability doesn't mean you cannot work and earn a living. when i was growing up i knew a man that was a quadriplegic and had no use of his arms or legs. he had to move around in an electric wheelchair that he could power and steer by moving his head against a little joystick because all he could move was from his neck up. this man was smart, went to college, and had a job working at home doing computer design. he had this thing he put on his head. it looked little a baseball cap with a stick on it and he would truly move his neck so that he could poke letters on the keyboard with that stick on his head. that is the only way he could type. he did this, however, and was proud of his accomplishments. there are many people that were dealt unfair hands in life. you can either complain, feel sorry for yourself, and suffer through life, or you can do something about it. this guy in the wheelchair really loved life. i remember being in his apt and he had pictures of himself all over the world. he even arranged to go skydiving. i think they strapped him to someone else and jumped out the plane together! i mean, he was really nuts! a daredevil in a wheelchair. it is amazing to meet someone like that though. they never complain and they never feel sorry for themselves. they treat life as a gift. you should think about that.

If you are in the U.S., you don't receive money for food. You receive food stamps or use an electronic debit card (EBT) at the checkout stand of your local supermarket or other approved store. Perhaps you need some instruction on how to prepare meals, shop smart, & budgeting of the little money that you receive on state & federal aid. Call your case worker & request extra help. The federal government funds workshops to assist people who are in situations like the ones you have described. These workshops will teach you how to live within your budget & care for your children. They can also get you some help by directing you to agencies that will pay for your overdue utility bills & assist you with any needed repairs to your building.

Your post does not seem credible to me. There aren't a lot of poor people with cold hungry children sitting around on the internet...Anyway, why are you sitting around whining acting like people should help you? You will not get help unless you take steps to help yourself. Start by calling your local social security office and inquiring about food stamps so your children can eat. Then ask if you are eligible for assistance with heating and electricity bills. Finally, inquire about how you can get on your feet and provide for your children and give back to the system that so graciously helped you. People say if you can't afford kids, don't have them, but you've got them, now honor your commitment to providing for them. If you truly love them, they should be your first priority. I stil doubt your question is for real, but good luck anyway...

I didn't know poor people could afford a 99 Trans Am, yet not be able to provide for their families. ( re: a previous question you asked ). Only someone who is ignorant would pretend to be something they are not, just to poke fun at a category of people. Next time be real and say what you really mean, don't pose behind fraudulent situations to try and make others look stupid. Believe me, it's having the opposite effect.

It's terrible how many people don't have enough money in the world. But the United States is one of the richest countries in the world (if not the richest), and we don't realize how lucky and blessed we really are. Most people who have enough money don't realize that there are some people out there who are going without a meal, or who don't have heating. If we let people know about how much help is needed, more people are likely to help. And trust me, whatever other people say, it's not necessarily your fault. Sometimes these things just turn out the way they are. Good luck.
