John likes 400 but not 300; he likes 100 but not 99; he likes 3600 but not 3700. Which does he like?

b) 1000
c)1100
d) 1200

I'm gonna say A--900. It seems to me that John like numbers that you can take an even square root of. The square root of 400 is 20; the square root of 100 is 10; the square root of 3600 is 60. From the answer choices, 900 is the only number that has an even square root of 30. 1000, 1100, and 1200 do not have even square roots. Does this help any?

A, 900. 400 is 20 squared, 300 is not an even square. 100 is 10 squared, 99 is not an even square. 3600 is 60 squared, 3700 is not an even square. 900 is 30 squared.

I did 400-300+100-99+3600-3700 which equals 1
So I figured 1000 (B).
