you work for an organization and you become the pee-on!!! some places do pay for you to work for them, but i also knopw many interns that don't get paid for their work..

It's essentially a temporary position with an employer designed to give the intern a chance to learn about the field in which his employer operates. In turn, it gives the employer relatively cheap (or free) labor.

An Internship is when a student or just graduated student takes a job in their chosen field with very little or no pay to gain experience. These often lead to permanent employment with companies or references that the person can use on their resumes.

It is a chance for a college student to get some work experience, usually during the summer break months. You would work for a company that has something to do with what you are studying in college. You usually get paid too!
