They cannot deny you that. If you do not feel good to be going to work, then dont go. They cannot tell you no. Actually you can say "I'm having personal problems right now and I cannot go in" and by law they cannot ask. And if she gives you a hard time then just say "Look I am having a problem and do not feel that I should go in. IT is for my health and I will not endanger my health" Goodluck

I am sorry that you are too ill to go to work, and that you have a job that does not pay you to be ill. Perhaps you do too much, and you need to see the doctor about the way you are and then you would have support in getting time off for the right reasons... honesty is always the best policy....

I am also sorry for all those who supported you in offering the excuses that you might use, they obviously have used them or heard others use them .. I hope that they don't at some time become employers and responsible for getting the job done -- minus all those who are away from work on an excuse.

Get yourself off to the doctor then find a job you like to do, your commitment to work will get you there unless you are really really sick.

Take Care get better soon.

always remember this, when you are ill go to work no matter how bad you feel, let people see you are ill, then a couple of days later when you feel better take a week off, no one will suspect you are not ill, they'll say 'my goodness she must be really bad, did you see her the other day'

when ur ill you cant do anything at home or want to go out anyway, be ill on their time not your own, take sick time when you feel better so you can make good use of 'extra' holidays

think about it, be smart

You'll need to tell him your pregnant as you can't be doing heavy lifting and stuff.

But you don't need to explain the ins and outs of an illness to your boss - they are obliged to accept what you tell them.

But thats probably won't apply in a pub where you get paid cash in hand!

See a doctor, if there is something wrong have him write a note. Get it fixed. Your boss hired you for a particular job and expect you to do the work you are getting paid for. If you can't do the job, get a note and the boss will find something else for you to do till you can or lay you off for not being productive. Not the boss's fault and he/she should not be expected to care for you financially. Sorry, there are no guarantees in this life.

Call your boss and tell her you're having a problem with your eyes......

You just can't seem to see your self going into work today =)

My uncle did that and his boss was laughing so hard he gave him the day off just for being original and cracking him up!

I'm not an expert of work laws or anything, but if you feel sick, I don't think your employer (no matter how tight she is) can force you to come into work, or fire you from calling in sick. I'm pretty sure that would be illegal.

Unless you're an illegal immigrant or an 8 year-old laborer....then I guess you're screwed.
