That would put the baby's health in serious jeopardy, so, no, I don't think a doctor would do that, especially not for that reason. In the event that a baby is suspected to be too large, more often it is encouraged to carry to term (which is best for the baby regardless of size) and then delivered via c section. It sounds like your sister is telling a big fat lie.

If the baby is too large, the doctor will wait until the baby is term (near 38 weeks) and then take the baby by c-section. It is incredibly unlikely the doctor would induce a vaginal delivery at 30 weeks for a large baby.

No, they would not induce before 30 weeks due to the baby's size. The average baby at 30 weeks weighs 2.9lbs, so even a "big" baby at that gestational age would not be too big for a mother to carry.

I agree with you ... if that baby is 'too big' then it's probably a lot 'older' than the mother is willing to admit. NO DOCTOR would ever 'induce' a mother at only 30 weeks of pregnancy unless there was 'grave risk to both mother and child's life' ... and a 'too big' baby is not a 'grave risk' ...

I'm 29 weeks and just took the glucose test. It came back higher than normal indicating I may have gestational diabetes - which causes the baby to be bigger. I was told my diet and exercise habits will have to change so the baby doesn't get any bigger, but nothing was said about an induction.
A baby's lungs are the last thing to develop - that's why they shoot for ATLEAST 37 weeks before delivery.

There is no reason the baby would be that big at 30 weeks. The baby does most of the growing the last month anyway.

Yes, it can be induced at 30 weeks.
There is no way the reason is becasue the baby is too big.

before 30 weeks??? no dr in there right mind would suggest inducing before 35, unless very serious medical problems, even if she had gestational diabetets they like to wait until 37 weeks, i think i agree with you, somethings wrong

sometimes when they are considered high risk, or gestational diabetes cause a baby this early will have to be in the hospital a long time after birth also could cause long time effects like delays in developmental. i had twins 8 weeks early and i know the problems we have good luck
