a farmer came from the market vilage where he bought some rice for his farm, a chicken, and a wolf. then some thieves saw him and chased after him. the farmer ran until he reached the river and the thieves are not in sight. there's only one small boat, the problem is he can only bring with him one of his belongings at a time and go back for the others. simple? if he leaves the chicken and the rice on one side, the chicken will eat the rice, if he leaves the chicken and the wolf on one side, the wolf will eat the chicken.

how did the farmer saved his belongings without any being eaten?

he took the chicken first came back and got the wolf. took the wolf over and got the chicken and took it back and picked up the rice and left the chicken where they started from. took the rice over and left with the wolf and then went back and got the chicken

First he takes the chicken across the river. Then he takes the rice across the river, picks up the chicken and takes it back. Then he takes the wolf across the river, goes back, picks up the chicken again and all are 'safely across the river' with no loss.
