the books say that once you release you mucus plug you have a matter of days before labor kicks in, notify your doctor of how much is being released and he/she will most likely check it out .. if not admit you into the hospital for safety precautions.

I started losing mine at 32 weeks. Clear though. I am 34 weeks now and signs of going into labour are more intense, you know like pressure, irregular contractions, backache etc. I was worried at first when i lost mine but it can take weeks before established labour begins. With my first baby i had a bloody show 1 week before the labour. It can be hours or weeks so i have heard. Good luck!

P.s. If you notice blood, it could just be the bloody show but tell your doctor nevertheless so they can judge what it is and note it down. Not long now!

the opening of the mucous plug is a sign but you could be around for another week. Get in touch with your doctor. If you have no contractions, then it is just a sign that your baby may be coming soon.

I lost my mucus plug over a month ago and I still haven't had my baby. My doctor says that the mucus plug really has nothing to do with labor at all, and all that it's there for is to hold your cervix together. When you lose your plug, you begin to dilate. But dilation doesn't always mean that labor is about to begin. I've been dilated to a 2 for a little over 3 weeks now, and nothing has happened. Good luck.
